Astronomers are not sure whether this ΓÇ£diffuseΓÇ¥ distribution is indeed a uniform layer, or if it merely consists of weak, blobby sources that are too small to see individually. Improved telescopes able to detect smaller objects may solve the mystery of Andromeda.
